But yes, fair enough to question whether the light should have come into play for the Aussies then surely? Vaughan could have put himself on at the other end for a start, but of course it wasn't in England's interests to stay out there, so naturally they didn't take that option, so they went off. As far as I understand it, the umpires gave some leeway onto that original light reading to allow for two spinners being on, it went even lower, so in the interests of fairness they offered the light to England. Whether it was the right decision in the general cricket sense, I don't know, but in the context of the decisions made previously in the game, it seems the fairest thing.
