stabilizing/plasticizing wood

Anyone on here stabilize wood and what do you use to do it ,IE .resin,vacuum chamber,or do you use the boiling water and a jar of resin with wood in it,what resin do you use .and where do you buy it from in UK

I was advised to look at cactus juice on YouTube. Very interesting but never did anything more about it. Can't remember if you had to import the resin- I rather suspect you do.

Whatever happened to PEG (Poly Ethylene Glycol?).

About ten years ago turners were using it to stabilise bowls, but nowadays you never hear about it.
