Sorby modular toolrest

can someone tell me what type of thread the 1 inch toolrest stem holds?

looks like 1/2 inch but don't think its whitworth

It's very likely to be m12, but as Blister says, check with Robert Sorby. I have a 3/4" & a 1/2" set but couldn't be sure about the thread

Whilst I have the greatest respect for the quality of Sorby tools, they do seem to use some old thread forms. I needed some capscrews for a hollowing tool and after trying metric and others, it transpired they were UNF. Having said that, their after sales was great and I got a spares foc.
