Managed some time in the workshop today after 3 weeks of bloody hard house renovation and am now suitably refreshed and chilled out again.

Top 4 pens are my first attempts at acrylics, bullet pen is a request from my brother having seen the one I made for myself. Made from 2 shells 308 cal and no clip. The last is an experiment using a blank of X cut bamboo cut from a chopping board.

The pen & pencil set are for my sons birthday made from part of an olive wood cheese platter.

Thanks Graynorm
I can't take credit for the bullet design as I pinched the ideas from a turner much better than me
Only but the lathe in December so hadn't turned for 15 years and I'm finding pens so addictive. Have turned about 30 now :)

Not a great fan of acrylic pens, though I appreciate the skill in making them, but the olive wood set looks superb.

Not my taste either but the women seem to drool over them. ( in my day it was a sports car that had that effect :? )
Not enjoyable to turn, too much smell and stringy static charged "shavings" for my liking. Much prefer wood any day. Have to keep the other half happy though as it saves having to make my own dinner

less than 30 minutes ago, my mate (who's an ex police firearms instructor) brought me a bag of at least 80 mixed shells. 303, 308, 22 etc so you ain't getting any more of my hard earned for at least a little while Alex.
What happened to those bullet tips BTW?
