Still really enjoying this lark....Finding some real challenges dealing with rotten wood and the insides of various shaped vessels. Also managed to bend a 13mm round scraper....but that's another story....
Pretty sure this is a piece of cherry. It was a rough looking piece of limb with about 4 branches coming out of it. Still quite wet inside so was a slow job hollowing it out. Cracks all over but sawdust & ca glue seem to have dealt with those for now....
Two pieces.....elm possibly? Lovely grain and figuring whatever it is....again still quite wet inside so slow to hollow but comes up to a lovely finish quite easily. Really nice to work and I've got lots more in the store drying out.....
Possibly beech......was a very rotten piece, I was intending just to have a play but really liked the markings and with a very sharp tool it came up quite well. The edge was very tricky to keep clean and it has a few dints, but overall a quite lovely bit of wood.....
Really not sure what the wood is. This is a wine bottle coaster, something I've wanted to make ever since I started thinking about turning. Pleased with the shape and it came up to a lovely finish with just a light wax.
Thanks for looking and well done on making it to the end! All comments, crits etc very welcome and indeed encouraged
