My mate Bill built a laser guided version of that from parts he salvaged out of a skip and a £13 laser from Maplins. The laser tells you how far into the hollow form the cutting tool is with a dot on the outside.

But then my mate Bill....is very clever

It looks like an old TV wall bracket that you would find in a caravan.

Cool looking tool though.
