Just a quickie.

I'm about to do a couple of lamps for Christmas pressies. I have been looking at this shell auger from Axminster. It says unhandled. Does that mean it needs a handle, or can it be used without one?

Thanks

A small 6" handle is all you need, just something to give you some purchase on the rod. A pair of vice grips would do the same job if you were using nearly the whole length.

I've just bought the deluxe version from Axminster for £29. It's made by Crown Tools and comes with the regular Crown handle already fitted. Also has a spiral flute for easier shavings removal.

Seemed like a better buy to me...
