I will soon be building a small bench top router table and intend to build an accurate fence for it.

I was looking at the micro adjuster manufactured by Woodpeckers http://www.carbideprocessors.com/micro- ... rs-micadj/

This accessory doesn't seem too difficult to build although what prevents the main turn screw from unthreading from the push block when you retract the thread?

Any ideas?

Cheers

David

The leadscrew is obviously retained in the attachment flange.

Either with a stiff-nut and washer or set screw and washer on/in the end of the thread shaft.

Thanks Chas, so from your diagram, with the trun handlke being on the right of the shaft as we look, a retaining/split pin would be inserted through a drilled hole at the far left of the shaft and to the left of the left nut/bushing?

That seems about right, I guess a tight fitting star washer fitted to the left end of the shafy would also prevent the shaft from unscrewing from the fixing.

OR.... the left hand bushing shown in the diagram could itself be a star washer?, the penny has dropped :eek:ccasion5:

Many thanks

David

From the image it looks like they use C-clips.

You could also use lock nuts.

Whatever you use, it needs to allow the shaft freedom to rotate without rotating the block. I doubt you want star washers.

Another alternative: nut and counter lock nut. Simple and easy if bulk is not a problem.

Washer (on each side) is ok, but certainly not star washers.

With any amount of use the screw will dig somewhat on the walls of the hole. A thin steel or brass sleeve will come in handy to at least reduce this wear. See diagram.
