Sapele for bench slats

I'm replacing some bench slats that are rotten with new Sapele slats.

What sort of finish would you recommend?

I was thinking of using a wood preserver or would or a outdoor clear varnish be more suited?

have a search through the forum, there have been several discussions on this.

no finish is great for this, after a period of time they break down. some do so very quickly, others you may get a couple of years.

no finish is an option, and let it go naturally silver. it may not be the look that you are after though.
