Had a couple of hours free yesterday and a "salt grinder kit" from axminster knocking about so i tried the chess style version in March 2003 woodturner. Pic is on the gallery. Quite pleased with it.

Anyone got an idea for a finish. Its maple.

Aidan.

Hi, Aidan,

If you can remount them on the lathe Liberon Lathe Polish is easy to use and provides a satisfactory finish.

If you can't remount them I would suggest 3 or 4 coats of finishing oil, cutting back between coats. This should provide a good satin finish.

Regards, Trev.
