Hello all
I'm after a load of clamps and i'm pretty tempted by the 4 pack of t bar clamps and 6 pack of normal clamps on rutlands.
I was browsing the site last night and ended up with a basket of about £450 :/
After having a google search for a promotional code (worth a try) i couldn't find any but came across a few threads mentioning rutlands always seem to have a 10 or 15% off day!
Does anyone know of any up coming day's or promotional codes for them?
Many Thanks James

Rutlands tend to have discounts pretty regularly just have to wait for them to come round I would wait unless you require them now, dont think I haveever bought anything from them at full price

I wouldn't buy £450 of stuff from them in one go. I would try some of the clamps and see what you think to them. Reviews tend to be mixed although the published ones suggest otherwise.

There have been a few 10% off sales this year but not as many as the previous year.

Hi James, if you are after a large number of clamps, it may be worth sopping around for a deal. Even phoning Dave again and asking if you could do a deal? Maybe ??

Be careful of the Rutlands reviews, some less than great ones I did in the past never appeared on the site ! I suspect it is not only them, but I agree that I wouldn't buy a lot of clamps without having a test purchase first, just in case !

Cheers, Paul

That is what I meant. I have reviewed a product as poor in the past but the review never appeared on the site.

Thanks all, Some food for thought!
I may just get the irwin/record ones a few at a time and slowly build a collection.
Buy cheap, buy twice and all that.
Thanks

If you are building up a few and starting with hardly any, a set of pipe clamps may prove useful. That way if you need a longer or shorter one you just buy another length of pipe. Pony, Bessey or Jorgensen seem to be the brands to go for, from what I have read. I have some Bessey ones that I bought in the USA.

Wow £450 of clamps is a hell of an investment.

Have you tried the irwin xtreme clamps? They're immense IMO. £200 will get you a good selection, try ebay.

Don't bother with the irwin 'regular' clamps, they do look like clamps but unless you're trying to clamp chocolate without breaking it I'd spend your money on something with a bit more power.

lol clamping chocolate :)
Yes was looking at the blue and silver xtreme clamps today. Think i will go for some of them... Just can't decide on sizes!
Thanks James

James,

About a year ago I bought 6 of Rutland's 900mm aluminium sash clamps with the large heavy duty jaws (orange and green ones). They were around £70 from memory. I've found them very good - better than the smaller jawed ones. They are the Dakota brand.

Hi James, I use far more 12" (300mm) clamps that anything else. I have a few 600mm, but the smaller ones are more useful to me making bandsaw boxes. Just get a few to strart with, then keep your eye on the 'FOR SALE' column and e-bay and you may pick up a few good ones as well, but lower price.

Malcolm

Thanks all
Well ordered a few to get me started, About £180  ... See how i go and can order more in the future as i need them :)
