I like these saws and want to buy the set of three from rutlands.
The thing is i cant decide which set to buy, the compact or the larger.
The larger run from 550mm to 600mm totoal length which seems big.
The compact run to 400mm total length.
I make furniture and cabinetry.
Has anyone bought either and known immediately once in hand that they were too big or too small?
You just know dont you.
Internet buying is good but has its pitfalls.Need to handle it really before buying and rutlands wont take them back

Avery, if it helps I went for these http://www.workshopheaven.com/tools/Set ... ihiki.html and they show the legths. I think the dozuki and ryoba are wonderful tools and the lengths shown within the link have worked very well. I would gladly go for both again but have not found the Kataba to fit into my routine. I'll be interested to hear what you think when they arrive.

I have a couple of Kataba, each at 550 mm in total length. They have a long handle but you don't have to use all of it!
They don't feel especially long. I view them as the equivalent of an average sized Tenon saw.
