Hi all
I have a Makita 6317 cordless drill driver with two Ni-cd 2.0Ah batteries; the drill driver is just fine, the life battery is quite short. I would like to buy an extra battery.
Would you recommend a 2.6Ah Ni-mh replacement (not original) battery? The cost is 30-40% less of a brend new Makita one but I have some concerns about quality.....
Thanks in advance

Sorry Bob - I've shied away from replacements and stuck with genuine. The going rate for genuine Makita's is £45 for the 14.4v ones, so the 12v ones should be a little less, although probably not much.

You could always take your battery apart and replace the affected individual cells - plenty of stuff on the web.

I would stay with original Makita 2.0Ah NiCads, you will get 2 to 3 times as many charge cycles over NiMh with a standard charger. Many more with a 15 min pulse charger (DC1439)
