Except it has been revived by a person with the same problem as the OP. Kinda saves going through all the same advice again.

I'm right handed and the 1st time I used a tracksaw, I found it odd to use. There was a rumour that the tracksaw principle was invented by a left handed German......After using one ( or 3 :D )for sometime now, it's no big deal.
 
the dangers of a circular saw cutting downwards are it biting and running away from you or pushing the work into you.
 
I don't think I've ever used my left hand with the tracksaw, but I'm not using it day-in-day-out.
