Good evening all, I am looking for some advice on connecting a remote control for an Axminster CT-90HB extractor. It is a 16amp 1.5Kw single phase machine. I have read a thread on here about a remote for an extractor with a DOL switch but this machine has a standard on/off switch. I have the remote used in that design, as in the eMylo® AC 240V 1000W 10A 2 Channel 433Mhz RF Relay Wireless Smart Remote Control Switch Transmitter with Receiver.
I am thinking that I should be able to put a switching relay in parallel to the switch and use the remote to energise this but have the backup of being abe to turn it on manually via the switch if the remote stops working for any reason. I would like to know if I am right in thinking this and also get some advice on which relay I could use.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

1.5 Kw does not need 16 amp supply. Domestic kettles used to be 3Kw, and even modern eco friendly ones are usually 2Kw.

You can buy remote switched 13 amp sockets to do that job.

Hi Sunnybob, because of the high start up load this machine does require a 16a feed, it blows the circuit if used on a 13a ring.

Really? Is it a long lead from the main? i know these new induction motors take more current but thats ridiculous.

What about changing MCB type to one with a slower trip? I had to do that for my compressor.
