I have to thank Record Power who have yet again bailed me out after a motor in my DX failed after 4 years. They are shipping a new one free of charge as part of the warranty programme. I think their service is excellent and I have to say that even if an Oki Duki from Axy or ANO general Chinese badger is a bit cheaper at the start, this replacement motor just goes to show that over time the RP machine is still the best value. (And of course in many cases is Chaiwanese itself).

I'm nothing whatsoever to do with them commercially but I've reached the stage where if I can buy something from them and it's price competitive and a good enough performer, then that 5 year warranty makes all the difference. Axy have recently gone to 3 years, I have no doubt to help them compete with Record. Apart from Tormek who offer 7 years, it's unprecedented in my experience and really useful.

I am still waiting on Fox to ship the parts that failed in April so I can fix my bandsaw. So far I am averaging about one days uptime to one month down.

been ill last two weeks but the adrenalin is rising. Angle grinder got the broken table clamp off and made a slot that will allow the band to run without scraping on the frame. I can make a steel clamp that will be much better than the original. Seems the bearings I need are the same as those fitted to skateboards so will get them soon. All I need do then is modify the bearing holders so there is room for them to adjust and it should all go back together and work. :)

Haven't you got a case for just getting your money back Larry? I mean surely....legally you could cite that the goods are not fit for purpose couldn't you? A lot of hassle given the French connection etc I appreciate but I'd be fuming by now if it were me given the amount of up time you've had since you bought it.

Probably as it has certainly not been "fit for purpose". The annoying thing is if they had just spent another £10-15 on it at the factory it could have been a nice bandsaw. However I will rework all the bad bits out and I suspect in a couple of months or so it will be reasonably useful. I have made a mental list of the things it needs, and this is most of it. Couple of days work. There is another project looming that would be maybe a bit more and by then it should work as you would expect it to work. This is probably less work than fighting them. The good thing is, there is nothing it it that is difficult to make, and also to make better. Especially now The Holbrook project has started.

I will have my day though...........
