Help please my record bs 400 bandsaw as been blowing a fuse] considering i don;t use the bandsaw for long periods of time it has blown the fuse twice in 6 to 8 weeks .. Any suggestion

Assuming that you are running the bandsaw from a 13A square-pin plug, your problem almost certainly is that the saw is drawing more current at startup than the fuse can handle. Sometimes this "weakens" the fuse so it fails after two or three starts rather than straight away. Your 2hp/1.5kW motor will briefly draw something in the region of six to eight times normal full load current whilst starting (about 50 to 60A) so you need a 16A blue commando socket rather than a 13A type - this is what I have on my Jet bandsaw of the same power.

If the bandsaw has a dedicated 16A miniature circuit breaker (MCB) and it is tripping, it is probably because the MCB is a type B. Replace it with a type C, which doesn't trip as fast.

Make sure your wiring is up to the job! Get an electrician to check it out if unsure.

Thank,s and it only blows the 13 amp in the plug Ans i know what you say regarding the 16 amp plug as we have done the same with the table saw thank;s :D
