Hi Guys,

I would like a litlle bit of info please.. what would be the smallest radius i would expect to achieve from a band saw using a 6mm wide blade?? is this the only factor that regulates how tight you can go or am i missing something out?

I know it sounds like a silly question (or not) but I would like to get into making band saw boxes hence need a band saw and wondered if a min blade width of 6mm is suitable enought to do this type of work??

Hello Batfink
Examples:
1/8" blade with 7.5 Teeth = 1/4" minimum radius.
1/4" blade with 6 teeth = 3/4" minimum radius
1/2" blade with 4 teeth = 2" minimum radius
5/8" straight cuts only = (resawing)
One tip though, in order to facilitate curved cutting. Hold a sharpening stone, diamond or otherwise,
to the two rear edges of the blade whilst running to round off the corners, a few seconds only. (Gently) and keep your hands CLEAR OF THE BLADE.
Hope that is of help.

PS sorry about the old money measurements

After using a blade for cutting curves it is a good idea to keep it for curves only. It will not cut straight line very well afterwards.

Hope this helps

John
