polishing pad ?

...just wondering if anybody has used a polishing pad (for cars) on their orbital sander to polish their wooden master pieces?
If you have; any recommendations?

I'm using a DeWalt orbital sander 125mm.

The car polishing pads rely more on the polishing compounds rather than the pads.

remember that most wood finishes applied at home wont be hard enough even long after application for machine polishing.....
Unless it's 2-pack or cellulose....F/polish ?.
plus some of the best finished car systems are shiney from the gun now.....
long gone of the days of 12 coats of paint, hand flating and polishing to a mirror finish......
I know a guy who paints Roller's and cheats with a light polish after a gun finished 2-pack paint job.....
besides it's the prep that really makes the diff....

The car polishing pads rely more on the polishing compounds rather than the pads.

And bear in mind that the polishing machines used are specifically designed for that and run at an appropriate, fairly slow speed. An orbital would be no use at all, wrong action entirely.
