Pinie Glue Clamps

It's been a while since I checked in on Paul's blog but Netflix decided to fail tonight so I decided to take a look. Seems like he's going to be making a version of the Pinie "glue clamps" http://www.quality-woodworking-tools.co ... ml#aPIN036 & http://pinie.cz/en/our-products/gluing-clamps . Both designs look very very closely related.

I bought a pair from the UK Pinie supplier but had not had chance to use them. Anyone else tried them?

Also known as Klemmsia clamps eg http://www.fine-tools.com/klemm.html and popular with guitar makers. I'm pretty sure Robert Wearing described how to make them and I have seen some good user made ones offered for sale.

Main advantage is the low weight.

The force exerted is on the low side but quite adequate for some jobs.

Definitely useful.

They also have a relatively long reach and clamping time can be very quick.

Thanks guys! I guess being in the heavier more brutal end of woodworking these clamps had passed me by. It'll be interesting to see how I get on with them.
