Hi All
Was given a big lump of pine and though I'd use some for a wide flat bowl. Sadly when I got a closer look and the board I noticed that there was a crack running down the centre
The top didn't look like there was any so I cut a bit off and mounted it the the lathe.
Finish is Bee's/Carnauba wax friction polish. Size is 8 inch across and 2 and bit inch high.
Sadly once I'd shaped it I found that there was some hidden cracks as well, while still functional as a bowl the cracks have let in down a bit
Also I think these cracks may have been partly to blame for the bad chatter I was getting when doing the under cut inside, which is not as deep as I'd wished. with the tool rest real close, taking light cuts with my heavy duty scrapper you could hear the chatter.
All comments welcome and thanks in advance.
Cheers.....
