phoning UK?

Hi and thanks for reading.

Silly topic, i know - but your help is appreciated. So i´m trying to call a supplier in the UK (i´m from Portugal) but by adding the int.access code plus the phone number, i can only get an error message. this is what i typed:

00 44 01636 688888

i also tried removing the zero in the middle, but to no avail. can anyone help?

You should dial 00 44 1636 688888

Might have changed their number, by the way have you thought about using SKYPE it would be much cheaper.

Just dialed the number from here and it is ringing out okay. Make sure you miss off the first zero of the number as cutting42 suggests and it should work.

To dial from abroad. Remove the first zero and replace by 44 has always been my understanding. Try that.

I telephoned Abrasives Plus and asked if they would ship to Portugal, but the person I spoke to said they only ship within the UK. Sorry to dash your hopes.
