The chuck on my PA18 Makita Drill ,has just caved in on me,no way I can fix it,Could someone tell me can I buy a new chuck ,instead of buying a new drill, and, where can I buy the chuck ?

Paul

PA18 is a battery part number. The most likely drill you have is the 8391DZ. If so then here is one source for a chuck but there are plenty of others. https://www.partshopdirect.co.uk/ma...453-bhp453-6381d-6391d-8381d-8391d-p766004-9/

Some folk (including me) have had difficulty in removing the chuck even when following the correct procedure. Despite all efforts some seem to be terminally stuck to the drill. So it might be a good idea to see if you can get your old one off before you go any further.

Just a reminder that the screw head bolt that attaches the chuck inside the jaws is normally a left hand thread, on most occasions I have put the chuck in a vice to get it off once the bolt is out, and use a new or nearly new well fitting screwdriver.
