Hi All,
Can anyone advise me of where I can get Kiln Dried Hardwood, particularly European Oak, I am in West Wales and can either collect within reason or have it delivered but do not want to pay massive delivery charges.

Thanks

Matthew

Again, not really your neck of the woods (no pun intended) but Monmouthshire Tiumber Supplies in Newport, near the transporter bridge.

Thanks for your quick replies guys.

I have seen Wentwood Timbers web site and having now spoken with them, it seems Kiln dried is a bit of a problem for them as they will only kiln very large amounts at a time and I only need about four cube.
Have any of you used Dickman Sawmills (http://dickmans-timber.co.uk/.)They are at Whitland which is close to me but again only has air dried.
Thanks again
Matthew

Hi Matthew

http://www.wentwoodtimbercentre.co.uk/ may be too far from you but if not worth a call to them.

I picked up 2 pieces oak last week 96" x x 8 1/4" x 1 1/4" air dried rough sawn for £100. They have plenty of other sizes (see photos) and they say on their site that kiln dried is +15%

Steve

Bloody hell thats expensive!!

Not sure how far these guys are from you, maybe a fair distance but I find them very good on English timbers.

Thanks for the link, looks like a useful destination place worth a trip out if it ever stops raining, do you see them as accommodating to someone just wanting just a few Cu ft of slab/plank off-cuts to fill the boot of the car?

Google says there's a supplier down your way, Matthew - Merlwood Timber Importers and Merchants in Haverfordwest.

Have you tried the Timberman in Carmarthen? Not a massive choice last time I was there but reasonably priced.

Thanks Woodmangler just checked them out and they are softwood people unfortunately .Clwydianrange I am often at Timberman but as you say there is not much of a selection so again that is a bit of a dead end but thanks for the thought.

I rang Timberman first, but they haven't got ash in the lengths I want.
