I have had this blank sitting in the wood shed for some time, anyway thought I would have a go at turning it.

This measures 13" across and is 2" deep and as the title is from Oak which was hard many trips to the grinder even after attacking it with a carbide tool.

Sanded to 600grit and finished with Cellulose sander sealer and the on to the wheeled buffing system.

C & C welcome

Makes the most of displaying the wood, looks as though you achieved a high finish on the piece.

There's always an argument waiting in the wings regarding High Gloss or Satin, or even Matt on such pieces but personally I'm happy to see all genera's, somehow individual pieces of wood seem to speak out on the lathe at times as to which might look preferable.

Thank you Chas.

I have to agree about the wood dictating what type of finish some just don't look good with a gloss finish. I think it is like people each has it's own personality
