Hi all,

I recently finished an oak dining table with danish oil and have now decided I don't like the yellowness. I'd rather just bring out the oak character a bit and keep the real colour.

Next time I build a table or similar with oak, could I just use bees wax and nothing else to do that?

Hi

We keep bees (or did until recently and will again), so use lots of beeswax. As a finish, however, it tends to be very soft, too much so for tables etc. We mix it with carnuba wax which is very hard. It comes in flakes, We melt them together in a pan and then rub it on. Works fine and the carnuba gives a harder more protective finish

good luck

Sue
