Currently using a Makita RT0700 and been contemplating selling it on and either going for the more powerful Dewalt D26204 as that can plunge up to 55mm compared to the Makita's 35mm.

Other option is to move up to a 1/2 router =P~

Would like peoples views on the Dewalt to see if it really is a step up from my Makita and also what 1/2 inch router people recommend.

I would likely be buying new as opposed to second hand and its not going to be table mounted in the near future so this is not a massive consideration right now. Only things i would say is it would like one that can be used to skim out hinge recesses on doors and LED job lights would be nice as have found lighting to be a bit of an issue now its winter.

I would have thought that the makita would be ideal for fitting hinges in doors. In fact, if I had to buy something to do that job, it is exactly what I would choose.

it is great for it but the limited plunge depth is the main reason i am considering an upgrade buut if i do i would like a route rthat can also do the job as space is at a premium for me plus would like to get a few pound notes back from selling on the Makita
