I've just bought a 3 phase graduate 30" lathe (short bed possibly - the one with a cross shaped bed but no bed bars).

Sadly it's missing the tail stock thing - does anyone know a good place to obtain these avoiding paying silly money?

How do I tell if the motor is dual voltage - it seems this is important when talking to speed genie...

Speed genie have a conversion to 2 or 3 hp - new motor etc - does this seem sensible or will this stress out something else in the lathe?

Many thanks :)

Miles
PS Sadly this is highly unlikely to be in commission by the bash :(

well done miles- i'm sure it will serve you well

btw: you have a pm and a text msg- any chance of anwsering one of them

hi miles
try ringing newton tessla as well. i got a new motor and inverter from them , they have a graduate there already converted on show . i was very pleased with the service from them. :D

Newton Tessla are the people to speak to, very helpful. I have just bought a vari conversion for mine from them, not fitted yet but very pleased.

I hate to say it but that tail stock swan neck for the short bed is the hardest part to find cheap. You need to be very careful not to buy a normal swan neck with the tail stock piece fitted. The piece that fits in the slot is rectangular, unlike the regular neck.
