This company, I have used,

have it at a similar price so it should be about right. My elder brother took a Linux version to the far east on a holiday. It did all he asked, Skype from the Christmas Islands, organize and edit 'photos and email. A little warning. If you buy one and need to download any special drivers, codecs etc. keep a copy. We recently did a re jig of his machine and it was surprising how well the codecs had hidden in 3 years.

I'm sure specwise it's up to it, but I've never been a fan of Acer myself.
Their products just feel a little cheap to me.
Anyway John Lewis have the same one for £250 with a 2 year warranty and I'm sure there are cheaper suppliers.
Personally I'd rather buy from somewhere I know than off ebay for something new like that.

IF YOU NEED a netbook and broadband access you can get a good netbook free with the contract, much like getting a phone with the conttract

I have a Samsung N210 which I am more than happy with.

One thing I would recommend is to try out your various options before you buy. I find the keyboard and touch pad on mine very useable. Some others I tried were horrible. Surprisingly I found the Dell keyboard hard to use and I have been a loyal Dell users for over 15 years.

I'm with James on this, try the options first. Some of the keyboards are dreadful to attempt to use. I ended up ith the Samsung N110, which is fine. (Although I did double the RAM in it, up tp 2GB).

I have a Samsung N140 I was lucky and bought it from carphone warehouse when they had a deal, it has a 6 cell battery. I would look at ASUS before Acer

although it only has a 3 cell battery.
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/218751 with 6 cell 91 in stock of box opened. There must be a reason behind it but doubt if they are customer returns, call and ask. There should be a lot of deals around as the new Atom processors are out. Keep your eye on Amazon etc

Hi
I bought the wifie an Acer aspire one last year although it has an 11.1" screen not the 10" which I thought had been discontinued.

We took it down under and it was excellent for holiday use and skype. been absolutely no bother although I did opt for the XP version rather than Vista. Cheapest at the time was Argos.

She uses it every day now at home and loves it but compared to my laptop it's much slower and of course no dvd drive so installing progs is a pain
