So......when I'm not doing wood burning or turning I can usually be found under my camper - trying to keep it on the road. It's my daily driver, so it takes a bit of work.
It's a 1975 VW camper. It was shipped in from Mexico by the last owner, so it fairly solid underneath. But the mechanics were fairly worn. The first time I filled it with petrol, it gushed back out over a hot engine

I ended up taking the engine out and finding the breather pipes on the petrol tank were perished....oh.....and the petrol tank was not bolted down. the Mexican mechanic had stopped it rattling by stuffing his t-shirt in and a section od Mexican road sign

I fitted out the interior to my requirements. I only used rough ply and framing and then covered it in leather cloth.

Very nice job you have done esp with the leather covering the ply and very lucky with the fuel spill not to of had the van go up in flames, re-kitted out a friends van as a hippy wagon and all I used was ply for strength and lightness and the best bit was the ply was free. :D

I do like that!! A left hooker too. Just the job if you want to give it to someone wot lives in the S of France

When I was stationed at Brize Norton in the early 70s a USAF guy stationed at Upper Hayford had one, a bit earlier, and the gearbox was shot. He had spent several months driving from home in Carterton To U Heyford in 3rd gear!!! One of his mates knew that my hobbie was VWs, I had a 56 rag top Beetle, and he asked if I could get and fit a new box for him. It didn't take long to find a box and the fitting was easy. The bloke wanted it to take back to the States and it was top of the line German jobbie!!
