After reading many of the threads on drills I started to look for an older quality drill. A few months ago, and with some advice from Scrit I found a good floor standing 1ph Meddings but the supplier sold it before I got there.

I asked the supplier to keep an eye out for another and a week or so ago he got this bench model and emailed me. 8)

I collected it today and am very pleased.

If you are looking for a good quality older drill you could do worse than look here. He's still got the 3ph one behind mine in the picture above.

Hi Phil

That's the bench version of the floor standing drill I have  (even the same fetching metallic blue) so I'll have congratulate you on your excellent taste in drills! Good luck with your new "toy"

I've got a floor standing one too (in a greeny/grey colour) which I bought many years ago for about £25.
Had to convert it from 3 phase though and disconnect the foot stop switch!

The table is very heavy and I wish it had a gear action.
Fitted mine with a cheapo Axminster Cross vice which helps centre things up very quickly.
