I have at last finished my fish pond and am well pleased with it and brought some fish but also got 6 butter fly fish what ever they are, color is silver with side fines.
Now the funny bit, they jump, yes they jump out off the water, not to high but one has jumped in to the next pond and the next pond.
I better explain that the pond is long say 16 feet by 3 feet and is divided up in to 3 parts with 2 water fulls.
Now so far these fish have not jumped over the side, yet, but give them time.

Are they part salmon?

Is there any chance of putting soft netting up / over?

Butterfly 's are carp that have been bread to have elongated fins.

They do not generally jump unless there is something bothering them, have you done any water tests, high Ph can irritate fish, this can be caused by chemicals leaching from cement/concrete.
