I've never seen one of them before, but it certainly looks fantastic!

Wonder what it would take to make one of those?

Nice!

Unless it's ridiculously tight, it might be wise to leave as is. It'll acclimatise to your workshop over a few weeks, so doing anything drastic too soon may be counter-productive.

A bit tight is probably synonymous with fair accuracy; a bit loose could result in inaccuracy as the effects of several tiny gaps add up.

From what I can see it's a steel thread, in which case you could try running it up and down a few times with some metal polish - it might free it very slightly, and is unlikely to cause any harm.

Seems as I'd never heard of one before, I didn't think there would be plans. But after you posted that one I decided to have a little look. Found this one too. No idea what the part would be called that attaches to the block and lets the rod rotate, but I'll go have a looksee on ebay.

As Cheshirechappie said above.
Now I read it as a wooden thread, if you decide it needs some lubrication dry soap works well.

There were two of these at Richard Arnolds charity do this year - which had been donated the year before - maybe next year you should attend and see what other goodies there are that you didn't realise you wanted !

I didn't see them! I would have had one if I did. I guess I spent top much time talking to people.
