I recently got one of these and was surprised to find it`s not accurate by approx 300mm and thought these things either worked or not , any one had any similar problems?

Over what distance?

Most are accurate to about 2 - 3 mm in a metre. If yours is 300 mm out that should relate to at least 300 metres.

I use the same. It's always 1-1.5 mm short. I just cut everything a mm longer than what the screen says- It's a fantastic piece of kit. 300mm out suggests you must have a dud.

It was a freebee from Howdens so I didn`t pay for it and have never been confident of them anyway and i`m only planning on using it for measuring up for pricing rather actually using for accurate cutting , the distance in question was a 4 x 3.5 metre room
