I'm thinking of getting a manual edgebander along the lines of

but have never used one and have no idea whether it's something I'm going to want to use or not! I can't find anywhere to try one out though so thought I'd ask here if anyone has one or has used one.
At the moment I get all edging done for me. The main usage will be for egger boards, which I already have cut (by Cworkshop in London) as they're too big and troublesome for me on my own. I'm paying 3.10 a metre plus VAT for the 2mm edging to be applied (that included the cost of the edging) and that can add up to quite a bit on a job. However as I've never used one of these machines it's difficult for me to judge whether that's actually a bargain when you take into account the hassle involved in doing it myself.
Any ideas or experience gratefully received!
