Manitoba maple burl 2

Same tree but about 8 1/2" by 5". Love the color that pops with solvent base lacquer. Water base doesn't as much. Comments welcome.

I thought you might have box elder over there, latin name acer negundo. However looking in my book: Useful woods of the world, it appears it is only available in North America. Sorry boys, but I am envious of the many woods you can get, it seems in your back yard, such as yew, etc.

Fair point, I am often surprised how many turners over here are using exotics when we have such a wealth of lovely timbers on our doorstep.
