Like it, I like Mahogany to turn, it's nice and easy! (and smells of chocolate!) :)

I LOVE the design and execution - though like Nev, I am a 70's kid and not such a huge mahogany fan.

Can you PLEASE do us another one - exactly the same, made from eg spalted beech, or something with wicked grain? PLEASE!!!

I'm just starting to get into the world of turning and if I ever manage something half as good as that then I will be very happy.

It really is lovely. I just missed out on the 70s but I quite like mahogany. Might not be the sexiest wood but its still nice.

Funny you should say that I have a piece just the right size and was wondering about making another one watch this space LOL

Beginner here too, and I agree absolutely.

I have a question for woodyturner - was the original blank circular or rectangular - i.e. did you turn it in the round and then square-off the sides, or vice-versa ?

The blank was turned the same shape as it is 11" x 7" and run as fast as you dare you just have to watch your knuckles LOL

Nice,

I like the bead around the bowl in pic 2 - looks like the inner bowl is separate and resting in the recess.

I think it is lovely ..... but if being retired means you have all the time in the world then I am doing something wrong. Cant figure out how I ever had time to work.

Thanks, think I'll give it a try myself on a piece of wood I can afford to lose, with a box of plasters at the ready...
