liberon water based dyes

The pine clocks I make some of them I colour wash them with emulsion paint mainly white and duck egg blue the paint is ok but hard to apply evenly and penetration not great , I been looking at these dyes and wondered if anyone has used them , the effect im after is a colour tone but with grain pattern showing through

I just seen them half price 17.00 for 8 15ml bottles on amazon as opposed to 38 pounds full price on axminster

Ive used the dark ones on blonde wood turnings....they do as you suggest which is to wash the piece but keep the grain showing, worth a try I would suggest
