This is the first hollow form i have turned in ages
This is from a Laburnum log that was split pretty bad but the wood was just too nice to chop up for firewood so carried on with it made good the splits and this is the result.
Not to everyones taste but i like it :D
It is 6-1/2" tall and 7-1/2" wide.Finished with wax.

More patience than me Paul probing around inside something like that, as you say a lump of Laburnum usually calls out to be worked rather than dumped.

As a hollow form on its own it does look a little bland in form but I'm sure the boss and cohort can soon find an odd embellishment to cascade out of the void which I personally think would lift it considerably.

Great rescue Paul, is it as thin as it looks? If so, that's a pretty delicate HF. :)

I like it. The simplicity of the form allows the natural beauty of the wood to be the dominant feature & the finish looks great.

Thanks for the comments :D
Kim- i have made this one so some weight is left in the base so i tried to make it so the wall thickness gradually increases as i went down.
