I have an opportunity to buy this machine and I would like to know the power of the motors. It is available for $735 US and would like your opinion on it.
Thanks in advance

Hi John

The colours green and red were used on the K5 replacement which they named "Bestcombi". The K5 frame is predominantly beige colour and I don't think that changed on the exports to the USA though Kity did supply some machines for other companies which were re branded.

It's a single motor and you change belt to access different functions. The motor is rated at 1100 watts with an output of 750 watts ( 1 hp ).

You don't have enough posts to pm so if you care to email me on bob(dot)lonsdale51(at)btinternet(dot)com I'm happy to email you the full instruction manual and uk brochure etc so you can read up before considering whether to buy.
I've had mine since 1987 which it was purchased new and I won't part with it despite owning much larger separate machines also.

Hello and welcome, I have an old white model K5, badged Woodmen, made in 1979 still going strong and ideal for the smaller workshop, and projects I find, and still capable of good and accurate work.
My Father had one just the same as you'rs, I used it a lot!
There were several versions of these machines and apparently a customer could buy, say the saw bench and add the planer or spindle moulder and all the other bits later.
These were very well made and many are still going strong today, here in GB.
Neglect, sometimes in a damp cellar or shed is the biggest problem, but they are fairly easy to restore.
Spares are very thin on the ground, but nothing seems to go wrong, any bearings, planer blades or belts are available, which would be about all you may need.
I see you're particular one comes complete with spindle block and some cutters, and also some paperwork.
This tooling can be expensive here, although I see that the 78x20x40 gold block was reduced to £60. or so for the older models recently.
Euro cutters with the pins seem commonest cutters for these KITY blocks, and on mine, in the 40mm size are on flebay very cheap, and safer to set up and use, BUT, Be wary of the spindle moulder, they can bite!
I would suggest you get some form of extractor system pretty smartish and off you go,
Do please let us know if you get it.

HTH Regards Rodders
