jet lathe

Irecently bought a new jet 1642 lathe,it appears that it is not running true,it is ok on small spindle work but on larger work with the faceplate or chuck it seems to wobble very slightly and cannot true edges without a chatter, any comments b4 i contact jet,main problem bought in uk & live in france

Hi johnluc.

Sorry to hear about your problem, but as it is a new machine my suggestion is that you first contact the seller, to see if they can help. Then if not try the manufacturer. Personally I wouldn't mess with it until I had exhausted the warranty procedures.

You may have bought it in England, but do they not have a warranty contact in France you could use?
