Japanese saw benfits over western saws?

The Rutlands page (often the case with them) doesn't say whether the dozuki is the crosscut or rip version. I have the rip one, and while it's very good, this Gyokucho seems to be the one to get: http://www.workshopheaven.com/tools/Gyo ... tml#SID=41

Rutlands also have a habit of not displaying the maker of many of the things they sell, but they are definitely Gyokucho, which are probably the best 'affordable' Japanese saws (as opposed to handmade).
