IOS 8 update

Trying to update my iPad but it's asking for a pass code to do it, I've never had a pass code but I have updated the software before, doesn't give you any idea where to get it from either...
Anyone know?

Steve is the pass code your iTunes password? (That's the password you use when downloading apps)

Edit: Steve I now think it's the four digit number you input to switch your iPad on.

During the update there is a screen which allows you to set a passcode, there is also an option to skip it on the screen.

Is that it?

Normally when you download upgrades it's your iTunes (Apple) password.
But as an additional security check to allow/stop any changes to your system you can set up a four digit passcode.

Is it an iCloud Keychain verification code? If you have an iPhone on the same AppleID they'll message you a verification code when you set up your iPad with iOS8...

Not an answer, but which ipad do you have?

I've got an ipad 3, and an iPhone 4s. I will not be updating either to ios 8. Apparently it slows the iPhone 4s to a crawl, and adds very little functionality to the ipad3. Once you have updated you can't go back!

sorted guys, thank you. I have the ipad air, just updated now but i had to reboot it again after update as all the icons would only show with it in portrait mode and the black button wouldnt work, oh well working ok for now...
