Having bought a Tormek T7 recently i see how useful and convenient a swivel base would come in handy, but seeing as im skint after buying the Tormek and some jigs i cannot justify spening £40-£50 on the Tormek RB-180 swivel base... so i made one for less than a tenner! All i bought was a square 6" Lazy Suzan from ebay and a cheap rectangular plastic 'garden tray', the rest i had lying around the workshop.

As it tends to get wet under the Tormek during use i thought it would be good to contain any water spillage, hence the 'garden tray'. So all i needed to do was router a square 3mm deep recess into 2 bits of plywood to mount the lazy susan, stick the tray to the top bit of plywood using strong carpet double sided tape, mount 2 little flush hinges to the sides with little blocks of wood for handles, cut the 'stops' in the bottom bit of ply and hey presto...

That's a good idea, I'm a T7 user as well but could never bring myself to pay the asking price for a rotating bit of plastic.

After using it for a bit it works great, it was well worth making! A sharpening station with drawers for the jig kits is now on the future project list!
