How do you do that thing within posts where you turn a big long link into a single word?

If you reply to this post using "quote", you be able to exactly how I linked to:

saw

The URL goes after the "=" in the opening , your short text goes in the middle, and it's all followed by a closing .

To save folks having to "Quote" to see the code.
Code:
[url=https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/how-do-you-do-that-linky-thing-t80658.html]This Link will call this Thread[/url]
and should appear as :- This Link will call this Thread

It should look like this in the reply box your browser. (Enclosing it in CODE tags to make it show up properly)

Code:
[url=https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk]UK Workshop[/url]
UK Workshop

(Darn, too much time spent previewing it instead of posting. :roll: )

When writing your text and you wish to create a link highlight your chosen word

choose word.png

Then select the URL button from the top of the page...

select url.png

this will put the url brackets around your chosen word.

Then move the cursor to after the 'L' in the first 'url' and place an =

insert equals.png

and then your chosen link.

insert link.png

preview and post.

Simples :shock:

I've seen it explained half a dozen times. I still can't figure it out! :lol:

Code:
[url=https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/post909179.html#p909179]The Word or Title[/url]

You embed the word or image in a coded link such as the example above:-The Word or Title

In that case the URL pointed to is the address of your post.

It could just as easily been that of the BBC
Which looks like this:-
Code:
[url=http://www.bbc.co.uk/]BBC[/url]
