Hi Guys,
I've just been given a few big lumps of holly, whats the best was to season it to keep the pure colour? is it a case of rough turning and drying normally? all the other holly I've had has been pretty well spalted.
Regards Chris.

Spalting is picked up from fungus in the soil so it should keep its colour as long as you don't leave it on the ground.

I've used a bit of holly and it turned really well and took a very nice finish.

Thanks Mick,
I'll keep away from all the other bits I have then, I wasn't sure if it would discolour or spalt just being in my workshop like a load of sycamore I have?
Chris.
