OK, I know you told me so, but I was sure my setup was running true 
Anyway, Duncan (my hero :wink: ) came out and tested it all for me, and it wasn't running true at all. The Jacobs chuck in the tailstock of my Record Power DML 305-VS was replaced by a cheapo, and everything was running like a dream. I've just spoken to Record Power and they're replacing the Jacobs chuck. Thanks to you all for all the support, and a big thanks to Duncan.
