Clearly it's designed to hold a blade, or something similar, maybe for sharpening? There's only one ground surface that could possibly be used as a reference but how or on what I can't figure out. The surface on which whatever is clamped is held is quite rough and far from accurate to its opposite ground surface. It's about 27cm wide.

It was in a job lot of stuff I bought at a car-boot ages ago and I've never found it useful for anything.

The only markings are a Transfer with KKR on it and a sticker saying Made in Japan.

I think it really needs someone who actually has one knows what it what designed for - but guesses welcome

Well done, that solves it! How on earth did you find that?

It looked a bit like a sharpening jig and KKR make chisels, so I searched for "KKR sharpening jig" on ixquick.

I've wondering for years why they don't put handles on jigs. which are essentially holding devices, but are made difficult to hold. Madness.
