"And which part of Sir's fence would Sir like to be 90 degrees to the planer table ?"

AKA why the Hammer fence is dire.

What else is bad about it ?

When you tighten up the locking knob when using it on the table saw, it shifts its setting so you have to unlock it, adjust, have another go, unlock it, adjust, have another go ....

When you put it onto the planer, and leaving aside the dished surface, trying to get it vertical is a joke. You have to use one hand to hold the square against it, your second hand to tighten up the locking knob and your third hand to hang on for grim death trying to keep it vertical as you tighten up the knob.

Underwhelmed to say the least.

New. Trouble is I bought the machine last year but it's been sitting in the workshop not doing very much as I've had loads of other stuff to do. Thing is I suspect that another fence would be just as dished and the fixing of it that affects the other two concerns is simply poor.

We had a new bandsaw (Felder FB510) sitting around for over 8 months in the plastic wrap before we realized it hadn't arrived with any blade as they said it would, when we complained they were a bit skeptical about it but they did send out a blade.

I would definitely complain that the fence is dished and isn't fit to do what it's supposed to, about the other problems I'm not sure. The Hammer and Felder stuff does leave a little to be desired sometimes, pretty much all of the plastic parts of the machines we have got have snapped off (20 year old machines now but only snapped off about 4-5 years into their working life) so they have since been replaced with rebar welded in its place.

I have an A3 31 and it has the same fence as yours......It also has exactly the same problem. An engineers square sits tight at the top and bottom but there is a gap in the middle....! I would be surprised if any replacement they send you would be any different as I just think the alloy extrusion is manufactured that way.
