That will make a pleasant change to all the fishing they have been showing, or is it going to be "how to build a fishing rod month" :D

 i first thought of this forum when i first saw it on, cause there was a post on here b4 when someone was moaning about the fishing that had on.

They seem to be showing that awful Woodworks programme a lot - worth missing

And a lot of Tommy Walsh - had a whole day of him reclaiming stuff on sunday

beats fishing

What awful woodworks program? All I have sen is the New Yankee workshop and Tommy Walsh, unless you count the boat house one? :?:

DIY: Wood Works
On: Discovery Real Time Extra (252)
Date: Thursday 7th June 2007 (starting in 37 minutes)
Time: 21:00 to 21:30 (30 minutes long)

Anton Fitzpatrick builds a wooden treasure chest. Plus, meet a man who makes amazing sculptures using a chainsaw and take a look at different types of glue with Mike Gregory.

Hey! I just watched that Woodworks program for the first time. Isn't that Anton Fitzpatric one hell of a woodworker? And he still has all his digits! Not only does he use his RAS back to front or to use his phrase 'Overhead saw' :? he wears a dust mask when he is using the mortice machine? His mortice and tennon joints were a little slack for my liking and he screws into end grain for a stress joint! While watching him I couldn't help thinking what a total waste that workshop was that he uses, it is massive. I did enjoy the short section on the guy who builds galleons from scratch though, if nothing else it was worth watching just for him.

He pulls the saw out and then pushes it back into the wood???? As far as I know the method should be to pull the saw out into the timber to cut. Hey I have only been doing it for twenty odd years, what do I know?

What - he pulls it out, sticks the wood in behind the saw and shoves it backwards? That really does take some ignorance - more than I could imagine anyone having!

Yup Jake, that's what I thought too. I wonder where he learned that one? No Smudger, on the SCMS that would be the correct way to use it but not on the RAS. Strange folk around isn't there? I am surprised he still has his full ten digits!

Anyway they should take the programme off because it is a bad example to anyone interested in woodwork

I did turn on at the weekend to discover nothing but blokes torturing fish on all three channels. Are there really that many people in the country torturing fish, and do they really want to watch other people doing it on three channels at the same time?

I am getting a little fed up with programmes about narrow boats as well, and tattooists, people making motorbikes, ex-vets and 'pete mate' doing things up and also "little people"

There are loads of people on this forum - why are no decent programmes being commissioned? If Mr Charlesworth were to do a series that would be popular....

I guess it's because their research shows that, actually, the bulk of their viewers want easy-to-watch programmes that make you dream about what you can do rather than the right way to do it. Typically a programme which spends too long on telling you about safety and correct use is 'boring'. Those of us who join specialised internet forums dedicated to the skill and art of proper woodworking are sadly in the minority. Just look at the turn out to the WW shows, much more of your DIY enthusiast nowadays (to the ones I go to anyway).

Even the Norm shows are 'dumbed down' quite a bit.

Tattoos, Narrow Boats, pete-mate, etc don't particularly bother me. It's the 'little people' and 'hypodermic needle' shows which anger me. These shows do not fit into the 'Real Time' ethos.

Of course as already said many time, there are FAR to many fishing shows. Three channels of fishing is enough to make you want to smash up the TV and go live in a cave.

They need more monter truck shows lol
Can`t wait till after TNA has finished on Bravo two cause monster Jam`s on.vroom vroom
